Regional Director of Finance

Proper Hospitality is seeking a dynamic and highly-skilled Regional Director of Finance to join our corporate team in Los Angeles. Reporting into the Senior Vice President of Finance, this key role will be responsible for assisting in providing financial leadership and oversight to our growing portfolio of hotels. Our ideal candidate will also serve as an Internal Auditor, ensuring compliance with established procedures, identifying operational inefficiencies and mitigating risks. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity are crucial.
Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy and Planning : Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the overall business objectives and growth plans of the hotel group; in tandem with both the corporate and hotel executive finance teams, create long-term financial plans and annual budgets
- Internal Audit Program Development : Collaborate with management to develop and implement an Internal Audit Program tailored to Proper Hospitality's unique operations and objectives; create and maintain comprehensive audit policies, procedures, and documentation
- Leadership and Management : Oversee and provide guidance to the Directors of Finance at each hotel property; foster a high-performance culture within the finance teams, ensuring effective communication, collaboration and talent development
- Risk Assessment and Analysis : Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of potential vulnerability and risk within the organization; analyze data, processes, and controls to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls
- Financial Reporting and Analysis : Monitor and analyze financial performance for each hotel, identifying trends, opportunities and potential risks; prepare and present financial reports, including P&L statements, budget variances and forecasting to the executive team
- Audit Planning and Execution : Develop audit plans and programs for reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of financial, operational, and compliance controls. Execute internal audits in accordance with the established audit plan
- Compliance and Risk Management : Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards and internal policies; implement robust internal controls to safeguard hotel assets and minimize financial risks
- Cash Flow Management : Work closely with property finance teams to manage cash flow effectively, optimizing working capital and liquidity requirements
- Capital Expenditure and Investment Analysis : Evaluate and approve capital expenditure projects in alignment with the hotel group's strategic objectives; conduct investment analysis for potential expansion or acquisition opportunities
- Financial Systems and Technology : Continuously enhance financial systems and reporting capabilities, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Financial Audits : Coordinate and support internal and external financial audits for all hotels, ensuring timely completion and resolution of any findings
- Cost Optimization : Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality or guest experience; implement cost control measures across the portfolio
- Financial Forecasting : Collaborate with the Directors of Finance to prepare accurate and reliable financial forecasts, supporting effective decision-making at both hotel and corporate levels
- Strategic Partnerships : Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including property owners, investors and lenders
Financial Training and Development : Develop training programs and resources to enhance the financial acumen of hotel management and department heads
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; a Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus
- Proven experience as a Director of Finance or similar senior financial role in the hospitality industry, preferably within luxury hotels or a hotel group
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing finance teams, fostering collaboration and professional growth
- Extensive knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make strategic recommendations
- Sound understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements in the hospitality sector
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
- Proficiency in financial software and systems; experience with hotel-specific financial tools (e.g., Opera, Micros) is advantageous
- Flexibility to travel to different hotel locations as needed
