Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced RN Med Surg/Telemetry – Nurse Shift Manager for a leadership-focused travel assignment in Bakersfield, CA. This is a hybrid leadership role combining responsibilities of a Charge Nurse, Clinical Mentor, and Shift Manager , ideal for seasoned RNs who thrive in fast-paced acute care environments.

Key Requirements (Must-Have)

• No first-time travelers
• Must have recent experience as a Charge RN (in last assignment)
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and team management skills

Role Summary

• Provide on-shift leadership to ensure safe, high-quality, and compassionate patient care
• Act as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff
• Perform charge nurse duties based on staffing and census needs
• Conduct patient rounding and proactively address safety and service concerns
• Support staff with both clinical and interpersonal challenges
• Promote a positive and collaborative work environment
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, protocols, and quality standards

Unit Details

• Med Surg / Telemetry environment
• Fast-paced unit requiring strong prioritization and leadership skills
• Manager-level interviews required

Orientation

• 3-week structured orientation:
  • Week 1: Classroom training
  • Weeks 2–3: Unit-based orientation

✅ Required Qualifications

• Active California RN License
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS (AHA or APEX)
• Recent Charge RN experience
• Prior travel experience required

Pay Structure

• OT Pay: After 8 hours/day
  • Rate Confirmation: 24 regular hours + 12 OT hours
• Bill OT: After 40 hours/week
  • Same rate applied for OT and regular hours
