Corporate Controller
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
Manage finance and accounting departments providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
- 2. Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports, including WIP reporting.
- 3. Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property and operating expenses.
- 4. Maintains filings, agreements and records for: Permits, taxes, maintenance contracts, professional organization, loans, and leases.
- 5. Maintains and assists with audits and negotiation of insurance policies.
- 6. Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
- 7. Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
- 8. Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
- 10. Reviews financial statements with management personnel and provides analysis and recommendations.
- 11. Directs the implementation and maintenance of new accounting, time keeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related products, procedures, and controls.
- 12. Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel as manager for the corporate accounting staff. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives.
- 13. Maintains the company systems of accounts and supervises recordkeeping on all company transactions and assets.
- 14. Coordinates and directs the presentation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures and analyzes and reports variances.
- 15. Maintains compliance with all federal, state and local corporate, payroll and other applicable taxes.
- 16. Furnishes internal reports, in a timely manner that are accurate so proper decisions can be made.
- 17. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports for regulatory agencies.
- 18. Responsible for supervising and coordinating the function of: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Payroll, Inventory, Job Cost, Fixed Assets, etc. This includes the budgeting and cost management of supporting these functions.
- 18. Learns, implements and maintains the Company’s system of accounting policies and procedures. Recommends improvements to this system.
- 19. Sets Accounting schedules and coordinates activities of company to: Close books in a timely and accurate manner, publish month-end financials to corporate, produce operational reports to management as required.
- 20. Maintains financial calendar to ensure that government, regulatory and corporate activities occur within deadline.
COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Accounting Background to Include:
a. Construction Accounting
b. Job costing
c. Inventory management
d. Accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll experience
e. General ledger
f. Familiar with tax and labor laws
h. Understanding of budgeting
i. Financial analysis of projects, projections, and calculations for present value
3. Computer Skills:
a. Comfortable using or learning accounting software (Foundation)
b. Advanced Skills in Excel
c. Advanced computer and windows skills
d. Working knowledge of word processor
e. Working knowledge of data bases
f. Interested (willing) in learning, coordinating and supporting information systems and administrative support systems.

Required Education and Experience
- Five years of hands-on accounting managerial experience.
- Associate's degree or some college.
- Construction Software Experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA certification.
- Foundation or Miter software experience.
