Staff Optometrist - California
Approximately an hour and 15 minutes east of Modesto or an hour and 20 minutes from Stockton. Job Summary: Provides comprehensive diagnostician work, manage, and treat conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system. Examine eyes and visual system, diagnose problems or impairments, prescribe corrective lenses, and provide treatment. May prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions. Responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient care for patients with eye-related disorders and conditions in accordance with the State of California Board of Optometry.
- Provides the highest quality of care utilizing the resources of the organization in the most prudent manner, and within the scope of incumbent's training, experience, and skill level.
- Assists the Medical Director and Executive Director in developing level of care standards to be used as a quality-of-service measurement and that will enable the organization to meet external accrediting requirements (i.e., JAHCO or AAAHC).
- Cooperates and helps establish and maintain understanding and cooperation with local, state, and national organizations toward effective community health.
- Serves as a staff optometrist
- Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examinations and diagnoses conditions.
- Administers or prescribes treatment and medication to patients. Promotes health by advising patients concerning eye health and medical conditions that affect eye health.
- Refers patients to board-certified ophthalmologists when required for more holistic eye care. Reports births, deaths and outbreaks of contagious diseases to appropriate government agencies.
- Initiates and maintains Problem Oriented Medical Records ("S.O.A.P." format) via dictated patient summaries or handwritten notations and chart entries.
- Provides such other record keeping activities, such as superbills, as required.
- Serves on various clinic committees and/or special work groups as agreed upon with the Medical Director.
- Meet regularly with other clinic providers to review patient care issues and concerns and actively participates in Quality and Performance Improvement activities.
- Uses prudent clinical judgment when emergencies require action beyond established protocols; notify Medical Director immediately.
- In the event of occurrences such as epidemic outbreaks, poisonings, fires, major accidents, deaths from unnatural causes, or other catastrophes and unusual occurrences which threaten the welfare, safety or health of patients, will be responsible for notifying the Department of Health Services, the local health department and the local fire authority as required.
- Will be responsible to report such occurrences (as listed above) within twenty-four hours by telephone (and confirmed in writing) to the local health officer or the Department of Health Services as required. An incident report shall be retained on file by the clinic for one year.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- California license and current DEA
- Completion of 1-year accredited residency program
- Must pass Occupational Health Screening.
- Must possess a valid form of identification as listed on the U.S. Department of Justice I-9 form, verified using the E Verify system.
- Clean DMV driving record and MACT auto insurance driving eligibility (determined by auto insurance carrier).
