Description:
Caltrans (California Department of Transportation) is seeking a highly capable and experienced Supervisor II to serve as the Office Chief of Resource Management within the Division of Maintenance. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing critical administrative and financial functions that support transportation operations across the district.

The selected candidate will manage budgeting, staffing resources, contract administration, and labor compliance activities while ensuring alignment with state and departmental policies. This position also involves supervising a team responsible for financial planning, position control, and operational expenditures, making it essential for candidates to demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee development, allocation, and monitoring of division budgets including personnel services, operating expenditures, and contracts
  • Supervise Resource Management staff, including budget, hiring, and contract units
  • Manage position control systems and ensure accurate financial and staffing records
  • Support labor compliance efforts within the Division of Maintenance
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure effective resource planning
  • Provide leadership and direction in financial and administrative operations
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal policies and procedures
  • Develop performance measures and ensure accountability and transparency in reporting
  • Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external review
  • Participate in strategic planning and operational decision-making processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Eligibility based on California State Civil Service classification requirements
  • Prior experience in leadership or supervisory roles preferred
  • Strong background in budgeting, financial management, or resource administration
  • Ability to manage teams and coordinate across departments
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with both onsite and remote responsibilities
  • Valid driver’s license required for state vehicle use (if applicable)
