Franchise Accountant

Job Summary:
The Franchise Accountant will be responsible for maintaining and recording business transactions, balancing ledgers, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports and supporting schedules for assigned clients.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain a close professional relationship with assigned clients, serving as their primary point of contact for all financial matters.
  2. Manage multiple clients simultaneously, ensuring that all clients receive timely and accurate financial reporting. The number of clients managed will vary based on the complexity and ownership structure of each client.
  3. Interface confidentially with leadership teams and clients, ensuring that financial reports and communication are clear and concise.
  4. Review and analyze financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with franchisor, tax regulations, and industry standards. Provide corrective actions and recommendations where necessary.
  5. Prepare and present financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules tailored to clients' needs.
  6. Provide detailed explanations and advice to clients regarding financial results, budgeting, tax strategies, forecasting, and other financial matters.
  7. Monitor franchise-related transactions to ensure they are recorded correctly and comply with franchise agreements, including royalty payments, marketing fund contributions, and franchisee fees.
  8. Collaborate with clients on various financial aspects, such as buy/sell discussions, cost reduction strategies, capital expenditures, and profit optimization.
  9. Help clients implement effective budgeting and forecasting practices to ensure long-term financial health.
  10. Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients by providing high-quality, proactive financial support.
  11. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve client issues, answer questions, and ensure that services are aligned with client needs.
  12. Ensure that all financial documents and reports are filed in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  13. Ensure client compliance with tax laws and industry regulations by staying updated on changes in tax policies, accounting standards, and franchise regulations.
  14. Demonstrate an ability to proactively identify and recommend areas to improve financial performance for clients.
  15. Regularly review internal accounting procedures and suggest improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
  16. Assist with the preparation of tax filings and other related reports, ensuring that all required documentation is accurate and timely submitted.
  17. Liaise with external auditors and tax professionals as needed to ensure smooth audit processes for clients.
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Education and Experience
  1. Accounting knowledge.
  2. Advanced understanding of accounting principles.
  3. Prior experience in franchise restaurant accounting or a related field is required.
  4. 5-8 years of experience in a related position and/or bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent in a related field.
  5. QuickBooks certified or advanced knowledge of QuickBooks is required.
  6. Sage experience is preferred but not required.
  7. Willingness to go the extra mile to ensure the customer experience is best in class.
  8. Actively seeks areas to improve accuracy and efficiency within the company.
Physical Requirements
  1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  2. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  5. Ability to work independently.
