Software Engineer 5 - Mobile Automation and Test

The Mobile Automation and Test team enables mobile developers to quickly and confidently deliver high quality and well-tested builds. We build and maintain a reliable and robust suite of automation tools and workflow to test a wide variety of mobile devices across multiple network configurations. Our work addresses the unique challenges of global growth and increasing mobile content consumption.
Ideal Candidate
We’re seeking a software engineer passionate about building and supporting robust, high-performance CI/CD and test infrastructure for mobile development. In this role, you’ll design and maintain automation tools and workflows that streamline builds, integration, and deployment across diverse mobile devices. You’ll also develop systems for data collection, visualization, and real-time monitoring to ensure the health and reliability of our pipelines and critical infrastructure. What you will do
Develop, maintain and constantly improve the mobile build ecosystem, packaging, continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), testing and release pipelines.
Develop tools that are part of our build and test automation infrastructure with an eye on scaling and reliability.
Innovatively create and develop techniques to automate manual activities in our mobile development process.
Operate in a highly cross-functional environment where you can leverage multiple teams to help our partners be successful.
Set direction and build consensus to drive long term positive impact on the mobile engineering ecosystem.
Evangelize and drive adoption of software development best practices in code health, quality and test stability.
What you need to have
7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining mobile testing infrastructure, including test automation frameworks, device management, and test result reporting at scale.
Proven expertise in building and maintaining tools, frameworks, or infrastructure that improve developer productivity and streamline the mobile development lifecycle.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems (e.g. Spinnaker, Jenkins, Github Actions), automation frameworks, and integrating testing solutions for mobile applications.
Proficiency in scripting languages (JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, Bash).
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to design scalable and maintainable solutions for complex technical challenges.
Experience with mobile build systems (e.g. Gradle, xcodebuild, Bazel)
Some nice to haves
Experience developing frontend web applications with modern UI frameworks (e.g. React).
Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB).
Experience with at least one modern programming language used in mobile development and testing (e.g. Kotlin, Java, Swift, Objective-C).

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $100,000 - $720,000
