Cook (Seasonal)

Avila's Ocean Grill is seeking Cooks to join our team for the Summer! As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals in accordance with established recipes and dietary guidelines. You will work in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to menu planning and dietary department guidelines
• Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency in taste and presentation
• Monitor food inventory levels and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to the kitchen manager
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during meal service
• Assist with menu planning and contribute ideas for new dishes or improvements to existing recipes
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations while handling food and operating kitchen equipment

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Cook in a restaurant or food service setting
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary terminology, and kitchen equipment operation
• Familiarity with menu planning, recipe development, and portion control
• Understanding of food safety practices and ability to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Skills :- Proficiency in using knives and other kitchen tools for food preparation- Knowledge of various cooking methods, including grilling, baking, sautéing, etc.- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Restaurant experience: 1 year (Preferred)
• Cooking: 1 year (Preferred)
