SUPERVISOR I
This position may be filled at one of the following State Fund locations: Pleasanton, Sacramento, Santa Ana or Vacaville.
State Fund's Risk Management Department seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Workplace Safety and Employee Claims Manager. This position is responsible for fostering a robust safety culture throughout the organization and managing workplace injury claims processes.
Reporting directly to the Director of Risk Management, the incumbent will provide supervision and leadership for the Enterprise Workplace Safety and Return-To-Work (RTW) units, collaborating with stakeholders organization-wide to enhance safety culture, workplace injury reporting procedures, and injured worker support services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general direction, the Workplace Safety and Employee Claims Manager will:
- Supervise and direct Loss Control Specialists and analysts assigned to various locations and departments
- Oversee ergonomic evaluations, incident investigations, and procurement of specialized safety equipment
- Coordinate and deliver safety training programs to employees
- Ensure organizational compliance with applicable workplace safety and health regulations
- Develop, implement, and maintain Facility Emergency Action Plans
- Provide oversight for Motor Vehicle Safety, Ergonomic, and Respiratory Protection programs
- Analyze workers' compensation claims data to identify injury trends and high-risk operational areas
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all workplace injuries
- Facilitate return-to-work processes for injured employees in coordination with management and medical providers

Working Conditions
The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Special Requirements
Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
