Product Manager (EtherWAN)
This role is for EtherWAN, a Phoenix Contact Company. The selected candidate will be an EtherWAN employee.
Job Summary
The Product Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and lifecycle management of EtherWAN’s product portfolio, which includes both hardware and software solutions. This role ensures that all product initiatives are aligned with EtherWAN’s overall business strategy and market positioning. The Product Manager leads the creation and execution of the product roadmap, working cross-functionally to define product requirements and drive go-to-market strategies. They are expected to balance customer needs, technological capabilities, and business objectives to deliver innovative, high-impact solutions. Key responsibilities include defining and evolving the product vision, managing the full product lifecycle from ideation through end-of-life, conducting market and competitive analysis, and collaborating with engineering, marketing, sales, and support teams to ensure successful product development and launch. The Product Manager also monitors product performance and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement, ensuring EtherWAN’s products remain competitive and aligned with market demands.
Responsibilities
- Gather market research, customer feedback and stakeholder input to arrive at a strategic product plan
- Be the subject matter expert for cellular technology topics
- Define what products are suitable for target markets.
- Develop and maintain product strategy and roadmap, and communicate strategy to appropriate internal stakeholders
- Manage the entire lifecycle of the product line including product concept, design, sample production, testing, forecast, cost, mass production, spec/feature additions and modifications, and product end of life.
- Ensure quality of the product line through collaboration with QA and factory.
- Develop case studies for the Transportation and Public Safety vertical markets
- Set prioritization and work with product development team in setting product release deadlines
- Write functional specifications, customer value propositions statements, and expected benefit or loss (if not implemented) of a product or application concept.
- Ongoing communication on product’s progress to executives, sales team, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Marketing department to finalize marketing, technical, promotional, and PR material required for product launches.
- Develop training material and provide training to sales and technical teams.
- Travel and participate in market activities such as standards meeting, specialty trade shows, conferences, key customer visits, and forums to gain closer access to customer and industry trends.
- Up to 20% travel, including international travel.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience is required.
- 3+ years of working knowledge of product development and/or product marketing experience with technology
- Experience with networking technologies including cellular and ethernet highly desired
- Candidate must be well organized, self-motivated, and capable of seeing projects through to completion.
- High level of accountability and planning capabilities, communicates with transparency and integrity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Successfully collaborate in a dynamic and diverse environment.
- Proficient with CRM, Microsoft Visio, & MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience in vertical markets such as transportation, security, energy, or process automation is a plus.
- Able to travel 20%
Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to travel via airplane for up to 14 hours
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time
- Must be able to travel overnight
- Must be able to sit for 4 hours at a time
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
Base salary: $110,000 - $125,000. Compensation information is made available in good faith. EtherWAN & Phoenix Contact USA reserves the right to adjust ranges based on candidate’s experience, location and internal & external equity.
