About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Murrieta, CA!

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in Murrieta, CA!
  • Schedule: 15 hours per month, 3 sessions a week for 1-1.25 hours
  • Rate is betweem $25 and $35 per hour

Ideal Candidate:

  • Extensive experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, as well as familiarity supporting students with Dyslexia or similar reading challenges.
  • Credentialed teacher required, with a strong background in literacy instruction, special education, or a related field.
  • Literacy specialist with proven expertise in teaching non-readers and students performing significantly below grade level.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and language development.
  • Experience providing homework support while reinforcing foundational literacy skills.
  • Ability to incorporate creative, hands-on, and art-based strategies into academic instruction to increase engagement and motivation.
  • Understanding of social skills development, including peer interaction, teamwork, and age-appropriate behavior.
  • Experience embedding functional life skills and communication development into academic sessions.
  • Exceptional patience, flexibility, and ability to balance structured instruction with creativity and student interests.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with families and adjusting to dynamic schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized, one-on-one literacy instruction focused on foundational skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, and comprehension.
  • Support language and communication development through structured and interactive activities.
  • Deliver consistent homework support while reinforcing reading and writing skills.
  • Incorporate art-based and creative strategies (e.g., drawing, sculpting, hands-on projects) to enhance engagement and learning.
  • Utilize sensory-based tools and materials to support focus, participation, and skill development.
  • Foster social skills development, including teamwork, peer interaction, and appropriate social behaviors within sessions.
  • Integrate functional life skills and promote independence as the student navigates adolescence.
  • Create a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment that builds confidence and motivation.
  • Adapt lesson plans and pacing based on student progress, interests, and responsiveness.
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling to accommodate extracurricular activities such as sports.
  • Communicate regularly with the family regarding progress, strategies, and areas of growth.
