SENIOR MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) – SANTA CRUZ DISTRICT / SAN MATEO COAST SECTOR / FRANCIS STATE BEACH

The reporting location for this position is the maintenance office at Francis State Beach in Half Moon Bay. This position will work under the direction of permanent staff and Park Maintenance Supervisor/Park Maintenance Chief I. Senior Maintenance Aides perform routine housekeeping on public use facilities, grounds work and unskilled maintenance duties on buildings, grounds, trails, parking lots, fences and other structures. Cleaning restrooms, emptying trashcans, picking up litter and using backpack blowers to clean off parking lots are typical daily tasks. Senior Maintenance Aides may also assist other maintenance personnel in performing technical work including carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing. SMA may work as part of a crew on more labor-intensive projects throughout the Santa Cruz District. Senior Maintenance Aides must be able to work well with others and work outside during hot and inclement weather. Experience in structured housekeeping, janitorial tasks, building or grounds keeping work is desired but not required. Senior Maintenance Aides must be able to work weekends and holidays and wear a park uniform. The incumbent’s work schedule will be from Friday to Tuesday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.) Working Conditions
Typical work activities involve frequent periods of bending, stooping and lifting.
May have extensive exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. May work in remote locations. May require heavy physical work including lifting, pushing, or pulling. Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills as duties often require working with other parks’ employees and the public.Special Requirements
