Senior Ground Software Engineer
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain satellite ground software for telemetry ingestion, processing, display, command generation, and uplink workflows.
- Lead the design of operator-facing tools, dashboards, automation, pass execution, routine commanding, and alerting.
- Deploy and operate ground software on AWS and Kubernetes while maintaining configuration management and infrastructure as code.
- Integrate ground-station hardware and network interfaces, including radios, routers, and antenna controllers.
- Lead GSaaS integrations and validate end-to-end data paths between satellites, ground stations, and cloud infrastructure.
- Validate ground software with simulators and test environments before operational use.
- Resolve root causes of issues spanning software, networks, ground stations, and mission systems.
- Mentor engineers, review designs and code, and provide 24/7 on-call support for mission-critical systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience developing ground-systems software, including services, APIs, and applications.
- Experience owning systems end to end from design through deployment and on-call operation.
- Experience deploying and operating software on AWS with Kubernetes and CI/CD systems.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, routing, VPNs, and secure connectivity.
- Knowledge of satellite ground systems, ground-station networking, antenna interfaces, and RF subsystems.
- Experience with Ground Station-as-a-Service providers and with services backed by relational or time-series databases and real-time data.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line tools.
- Strong programming and scripting skills; Python and C++ are preferred.
- Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including Git and Docker.
- Experience with multi-satellite constellation operations and CCSDS protocols or ground-station network integrations is a plus.
