Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Procurement & Services Officer II, the Warehouse Manager II oversees all support warehouse functions for CSP-Sacramento and Folsom State Prison.

Oversees all support warehouse functions to ensure proper materials management principles are followed, including the purchasing, receipt, storage, inventorying, and issuance of a large variety of materials and equipment. Directly supervises two Material & Stores Supervisor II’s and one Office Technician and indirectly supervises ten Materials & Stores Supervisor I’s and one Heavy Truck Driver.

Monitors and oversees the forecasting of material requirements, identifies excessive inventories, and recommends elimination or reduction of said inventories; maintains a budget and authorizes purchases of needed materials and equipment; meets with institution staff and managers regarding institutional materials management needs.

Limited term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Working Conditions

California State Prison, Sacramento is located in Folsom, CA. The insitution shares collective space(s) with the historic Folsom State Prison.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Valid California Driver’s License.

The incumbent must consistently exhibit a high degree of initiative, independence, and conformity to established warehousing/storekeeping principles and practices and in the supervision of staff and inmates. Ability to maintain regular attendance and be punctual.

Knowledge of modern warehousing methods and practices, including the keeping of receiving, shipping, and inventory records, Office of Procurement specifications, freight claim procedures, operation of material handling equipment, inventory, and quality control. Ability to work closely with staff, inmates, institutional customers, the public, and administrators.
