Senior Compliance Representative Lead

The Oakland Field Office seeks dynamic, results-driven professionals with exceptional analytical and communication skills to join our leadership team. Under the general direction of an Administrator I, the Senior Compliance Representative (SCR) Lead, serves as a technical authority and team leader, providing guidance and oversight to Field Collection staff on the most complex and sensitive compliance matters. Key Responsibilities- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on Franchise Tax Board (FTB) policies, procedures, and enforcement practices, ensuring consistent and accurate application of tax laws.
- Lead and mentor a team of Field Compliance Representatives by providing technical direction, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Analyze, document, and resolve intricate compliance issues in alignment with departmental standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strategically assign and monitor workloads based on complexity, operational priorities, and staff capabilities.
- Review and evaluate staff work for accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to quality standards.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports, management updates, and performance metrics.
- Facilitate training and development initiatives to enhance team expertise and operational efficiency.
- Act as a technical resource at public counters and assist with resolving complex taxpayer inquiries.
- Promote and uphold FTB’s Mission and Values in all interactions and decision-making processes.

Working Conditions
- Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility to meet operational needs.
- This position is eligible for limited remote working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework. This is subject to change.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to clearly demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications and Alternate Range Placement for the position on your State Application (STD Form 678). The application should also clearly demonstrate the candidate’s ability to meet the Desirable Qualifications identified in this job advertisement. - Extensive knowledge of FTB systems, including Enterprise Tax Systems [ETS], Taxpayer Information [TI], Business Entities Tax System [BETS], Integrated Nonfiler Compliance [INC], Taxpayer Folder [TPF], and Case Management [CM] tools
- Proven experience in workload management, staff development, and performance evaluation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and implement effective solutions
- Expertise in Personal Income Tax (PIT) and Business Entity (BE) compliance, including technical application of tax laws
- Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to delivering superior customer service and fostering collaborative team relationships
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
