About the Role
Heraeus Precious Metals is seeking an experienced Regional Sales Manager – Chemical Products to drive profitable growth, customer retention, market development, and strategic commercial performance across the assigned region.
This role will develop and execute sales strategies, manage key customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, lead commercial negotiations, and partner with technical and operational teams to deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
The ideal candidate combines strong B2B sales experience with commercial acumen, relationship-building skills, and the ability to understand technical products and customer applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute regional sales strategies and annual business plans aligned with company objectives.
- Drive revenue growth, profitability, customer retention, and market expansion within the assigned territory.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and decision-makers.
- Identify and pursue new customers, markets, applications, and business opportunities.
- Lead customer discussions and negotiations involving pricing, contracts, supply, logistics, and commercial terms.
- Develop pricing recommendations and strategies that support profitable growth.
- Monitor market conditions, customer needs, industry trends, and competitive activity.
- Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline updates, business plans, and performance reports.
- Partner with Product Management, R&D/Technical Service, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and other internal teams to meet customer requirements.
- Represent Heraeus at customer meetings, industry conferences, trade organizations, and other external events.
- Resolve complex customer issues by coordinating appropriate internal resources.
- Provide market intelligence and recommendations to business leadership.
- Support the development and commercialization of new products, applications, and value-added solutions.
- Ensure all commercial activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive B2B sales, account management, business development, or related commercial experience .
- Experience managing customer relationships and developing new business opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies and business plans.
- Strong commercial, financial, and business acumen, including an understanding of pricing and profitability.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers at multiple organizational levels, including senior leadership.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and influence others without direct authority.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint, and experience using CRM systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned region and occasionally internationally.
- Ability to work effectively in a technical, manufacturing, and customer-focused environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in specialty chemicals, catalysts, precious metals, industrial manufacturing, engineered materials, refining, recycling, or a related industry.
- Experience selling chemical products, catalyst products, or other technical products.
- Experience working with multinational or global customers.
- Experience with complex commercial agreements and strategic account management.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems.
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements listed below represent the typical requirements of the position:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout office, manufacturing, laboratory, and customer environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to approximately 20 pounds.
- Ability to travel by automobile and air throughout the United States and occasionally internationally.
- Ability to safely enter and navigate manufacturing, laboratory, production, and industrial environments.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting designated manufacturing or industrial areas.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an office and customer-facing environment but will regularly interact with manufacturing, laboratory, production, and industrial operations.
The role may involve exposure to industrial equipment, chemicals, elevated noise levels, and other manufacturing conditions when visiting designated areas. Appropriate PPE and site safety requirements must be followed.
Regular travel throughout the assigned region is expected, with occasional international travel.
