About the Position...
The Payroll and Benefits Officer is an onsite position and does not have remote opportunities.
The Payroll and Benefits Officer will work closely with the Payroll and Benefits Manager, the HR Generalist, the HR Business Partner, and the Director of HR to learn the functions of the role, as well as the various systems and functions in order to support the payroll and benefits activities. This role will be responsible for supporting a variety of functions including, but not limited to, the input and maintenance of all employee data in the payroll system, assisting with the processing of payroll accurately and timely, uploading various documents into the payroll system, as well as maintaining the time and attendance system. They will also assist the Payroll and Benefits Manager to ensure that the employee group insurance elections are processed correctly and that billings accurately reflect those elections. Additionally, this role will be responsible for performing and/or supporting administrative functions within the HR Department, including but not limited to, maintaining the employee files, answering employee's questions, assisting with the annual review process, assist with various audits, and assist the Payroll and Benefits Manager, the HR Generalist, the HR Business Partner, and the Director of HR with other duties and special projects as assigned, including mergers and acquisitions, as needed. As confidentiality of HR related matters is paramount to the success of the bank, the Payroll and Benefits Officer will assure that all HR related matters and employee information including salaries, performance reviews, leave information, and all other employee information are held in strict confidence at all times. The Payroll and Benefits Officer will ensure that all employees are assisted promptly, courteously, efficiently and professionally at all times. They will perform all duties accurately, timely and efficiently and according to bank policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines. This role is required to advise the Director of HR and other members of the HR team of any situations that could pose risk to the bank.
About You... You are a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a team environment. You also have the following:
Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Human Resource Certification a plus.
Required Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of federal and state human resources policies and procedures. Understanding of banking regulations and standard banking practices and/or ability to learn and quickly assimilate to the organization.
Experience Required: Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in the payroll and benefit accounting area of a financial institution.
