Maintenance Technician II- 2 Shift

The Maintenance Technician Level II works to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and optimizing both production machinery (CNC mills/lathes, 3-5 axis machines) and facility support systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, cranes, pumps, etc.). They will assist in preventive maintenance, manage emergency response, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. This position is subject to ITAR requirements which require incumbents to be a U.S. Person (Citizen, lawful permanent resident, a protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324(a)(3)) RESPONSIBILTIES Include the following but other duties may be assigned. *
- Maintain, troubleshoot, inspect, repair and optimize CNC machinery (mills, lathes, 3- and 5-axis machines such as Mitsubishi, Mori-Seiki, Okuma, and other large mills/lathes) to ensure high-uptime, precision production.
- Perform diagnostics and repair on CNC systems: mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, servo/drive, spindle, turret, tooling changeovers, alignment, calibration.
- Conduct and oversee preventive maintenance programs for production equipment: lubrication, alignment verification, spindle run-out checks, linear guide inspections, coolant filtration & condition, machine leveling, vibration analysis.
- Assist with machine installations, relocations, rebuilds and major upgrades (mechanical, electrical, controls) in coordination with production and engineering teams.
- Maintain and repair facility-level systems: basic electrical wiring and controls, PLC inputs/outputs, motor starters, panel wiring; HVAC systems; plumbing; overhead cranes; pumps; compressed air systems; conveyors; material handling equipment.
- Operate material handling equipment safely (forklifts, boom-lifts, scissor-lifts) and support equipment movements, rigging and machine set-ups. Obtain/maintain certification for forklifts and aerial lifts.
- Respond to emergency calls outside of normal hours (including nights/weekends) to minimize downtime, coordinate with production and engineering to expedite repairs.
- Lead root‐cause investigations for recurring equipment issues; implement corrective actions, document findings, update preventive maintenance plans.
- Record maintenance work in CMMS (computerized maintenance management system), maintain accurate service logs, parts usage, machine history and downtime tracking.
- Interface with production, quality and engineering teams to support process improvements, equipment capability studies, machine health monitoring and cost reduction initiatives.
- Work continuously with safety as the top priority: enforce lockout-tagout procedures, machine guarding, fall protection, aerial lift protocols, daily job safety analyses and toolbox talks.
- Reports unsafe conditions to manager. Report to management all accidents and injuries immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure spare parts, tools and materials are readily available and inventoried.
- Assist other department and/or areas as requested by management or supervisor.
- Follows all company policies and safety guidelines. Attend all safety training as scheduled.
- Mentor and support less‐experienced maintenance technicians or apprentices; provide direction, training and oversight as needed.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently under minimal supervision, manage deadlines and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends on a regular basis, and respond to emergency calls.
This position does not oversee any personnel. SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
- 5 – 7 years of hands-on maintenance experience in aerospace, defense, or machine-shop environments, supporting CNC mills/lathes, automation, facility systems
- Strong knowledge of mechanics of 3- to 5-axis machines (e.g., Mitsubishi, Mori-Seiki, Okuma) and other large mills and lathes.
- Proven experience with CNC mill/lathe diagnostics and repair: mechanical, electrical, servo/drive systems, spindles, axes, tooling systems.
- Working knowledge of facility systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, cranes, pumps, compressed air and material handling.
- Forklift, boom-lift and scissor-lift operator experience, or ability and willingness to become certified.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, able to independently diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Documentation skills: ability to record maintenance activities, downtime, parts usage, machine history, and update CMMS.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical work. Ability to satisfactorily perform electrical jobs and intermediate knowledge of the electrical code and best practices.
High School or G.E.D. Technical Certificates/AA degree in electronics, CNC repair preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Strong manual dexterity to use tools, reach into equipment and perform mechanical task.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 10% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment and 90% of the time in the facility. When working in the facility it requires the use of personal protective equipment including (but not limited to) safety slip/ oil resistant shoes, safety glasses, safety gloves as well as other PPE dependent on the work being performed.
