Staff Software Engineer Platform Debug

## \nCompany:\n\nQualcomm Technologies, Inc.\n\n## Job Area:\n\nEngineering Group, Engineering Group \u003e Software Engineering\n\nGeneral Summary:\n\nWe are seeking a skilled Software Platform Debug Engineer to design, develop, and debug low\u2011level software that enables and supports debug visibility on high\u2011performance server platforms. These debug features include both dynamic debug (e.g., peek/poke) and post\u2011mortem (crash) capabilities. In this role, you will work close to the hardware/software boundary, solving complex system\u2011level issues across firmware, operating systems, platform software, and host tooling. You will collaborate with cross\u2011functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions that meet demanding performance and reliability requirements.\n\nThis position is suitable for Senior\u2011 or Staff\u2011level engineers who demonstrate strong technical ownership, deep systems knowledge, and the ability to influence technical direction. This is a replacement headcount.\n\n## Responsibilities\n\n * Design, develop, and maintain software to support debug functionality across multiple system layers\n\n * Troubleshoot and resolve highly complex software defects across integrated components\n\n * Analyze system behavior by gathering and correlating information across modules, subsystems, and interfaces\n\n * Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to identify root causes and deliver effective fixes\n\n * Communicate progress, risks, and mitigation strategies clearly to project leads and stakeholders\n\n * Identify design or implementation gaps and proactively drive solutions\n\n * Contribute technical input and solution strategies during design and debug reviews\n\n * Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure stability and functional correctness\n\n * Perform thorough code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback\n\n * Manage priorities, timelines, and deliverables for small\u2011 to medium\u2011sized initiatives\n\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nMaster\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \n \n\u2022 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * 5+ years of experience building software stacks for high\u2011performance systems\n\n * 5+ years of experience in debug software development (tools, firmware, applications)\n\n * Master\u2019s degree in Computer Science or Engineering\n\n * 10+ years of experience building and debugging software for high\u2011performance platforms\n\n * Experience with ARM debug architectures or frameworks\n\n\n\n\nTechnical Skills \u0026 Expertise\n\n * Experience designing and/or supporting debug capabilities in complex SoCs and high\u2011performance CPU architectures, including:\n\n * JTAG debug and tooling\n\n * High\u2011performance trace\n\n * System crash analysis\n\n * Strong understanding of computer architecture, including:\n\n * High\u2011performance server designs\n\n * Hardware/software interfaces\n\n * Proficiency in C and assembly language\n\n * Systems programming experience using Python or similar languages\n\n * Familiarity with modern build systems and distributed version control workflows\n\n * Experience developing and debugging:\n\n * Platform and system software\n\n * Firmware and boot software\n\n * Debug and diagnostic tools\n\n\n\n\n## \n\n## \n\n## Level of Responsibility\n\n * Autonomy: Operates independently with minimal supervision\n\n * Communication: Conveys complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences, including senior leadership\n\n * Influence: Provides technical input that impacts key architectural and organizational decisions\n\n * Execution: Manages multi\u2011step, high\u2011complexity tasks with strong attention to detail\n\n * Innovation: Applies creativity and technical judgment to develop new approaches and solutions\n\n * Problem Solving: Uses advanced analytical reasoning to diagnose and resolve complex system issues\n\n\n\n\nQualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
