The Accounts Payable and Receivable Staff Accountant will ensure that the Accounting department operates in a smooth and efficient manner. The goal of this position is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department with an emphasis on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

Requirements

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new laws, enforcing adherence to requirements advising management on needed actions.
  • Provide detailed analyses and explanation of all transactions.
  • Provide management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts.
  • Maintain and execute a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings.
  • Protects organization’s values by keeping information confidential.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
  • Applies customer payments.
  • Researches and solves payment discrepancies.
  • Processes credit card payments and credits.
  • Makes adjustments to accounts as needed.
  • Prepares weekly manual deposits.
  • Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
  • Answers all vendor inquiries.
  • Maintains all accounts payable and receivable reports, spreadsheets, and corporate accounts receivable files.
  • Assists corporate financial officers and department personnel as necessary.
  • Assists in monthly closings.
  • Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.
  • Performs filing and coping.
  • Assist with other accounting projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in accounts payable or related field.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience with Sage, Bill.com, and FACTS Financial is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position’s duties are normally performed in a standard work environment based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort is required; therefore, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. He or she may be required to walk or sit for extended periods and may be exposed to outside weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, humidity, rain, and direct sunlight. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and other similar machines.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions are dynamic. This requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule that may require occasional weekend and/or evening hours. The employee will be using his or her personal vehicle; therefore, he or she must hold a valid driver’s license in the state where he or she is based and have appropriate auto insurance as required by law. The employee needs to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize work assignments, and do well under pressure. He or she must also demonstrate professionalism and integrity, take initiative, and exercise confidentiality. Finally, the employee must understand and apply all company policies and procedures, can follow instructions, and be detailed oriented, and have good follow-through on all projects.
