Job Title: Dryer Operator

Pay Rate: $!7.00/hr

Schedule: 1st and 2nd shifts available

Job Summary: The GSI Dryer Operator is responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining GSI pistachio drying equipment to ensure optimal moisture removal, product quality, and throughput. This role is critical during harvest season when rapid and efficient drying is essential to preserve product integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor GSI pistachio dryers, ensuring proper airflow, temperature, and drying time.
• Load and unload products into storage Silos as scheduled, coordinating with hulling and storage teams.
• Continuously check moisture levels and dryer performance, adjusting controls as needed for product consistency.
• Keep accurate logs of drying times, temperatures and moisture readings.
• Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on fans, burners, conveyors, and control panels.
• Clean and clear dryer bins and surrounding areas to prevent buildup and fire hazards.
• Communicate with shift supervisors, lab techs, and forklift drivers to maintain efficient product flow.
• Ensure compliance with GMPs, food safety standards, and OSHA safety practices.
• Clim catwalks to monitor gate controls.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1+ year experience operating GSI dryers or similar agricultural drying systems preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays during peak season.
• Comfortable working in high-temperature, dusty, and outdoor environments.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb stairs or ladders as required.

Preferred Experience:

• Background in pistachio or tree nut processing.
• Familiarity with moisture testing equipment (e.g., Steinlite or similar).
• Basic knowledge of automated dryer controls and GSI system software (optional).
