Information Technology Manager I
Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the School Fiscal Services Division (SFSD) Director and Assistant Director, the Information Technology Manager I leads the implementation and operations of information technology solutions for the SFSD, including the Apportionment Application (AA) and the Standardized Account Code Structure System (SACS). The incumbent has overall management responsibilities for staff providing system development and general information technology (IT) services for the division which includes leading, planning, organizing, and coordinating activities as it relates to California K-12 public school funding and financial data. Duties include but are not limited to:
Management & Technical Leadership - The incumbent is responsible for managing and providing technical leadership and support for division IT staff by providing guidance and direction necessary to successfully supply quality data processing services for SFSD's most critical, high-profile, and complex web, desktop, and server applications as it relates to California student and school data.
Application Development Management – Responsible for managing division IT staff who are responsible for architecting, designing, developing, and implementing SFSD’s most critical, high-profile, and complex web, desktop, and server applications as it relates to state funding calculations and local educational agency (LEA) financial data.
Systems Analysis, Design & Programming – The incumbent provides planning, direction, and guidance to division IT staff on the most complex projects. The incumbent ensures that staff meets Department development standards through the use of technical and business reviews.
Personal Leave Program 2025
Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. Working Conditions
TELEWORK OPTION
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and working a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Ability to: Manage technical personnel; plan, administer, and monitor expenditures; assess, analyze, and identify information technology policy needs; establish cooperative relationships and gain support of key individuals to accomplish goals; plan, coordinate, and direct the activities of multi-disciplinary staff.
