Under general direction of an Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Associate Accounting Analyst (AAA) will perform the most difficult professional accounting duties by utilizing technical expertise and analytical skills. The AAA will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and primary point of contact on all matters related to travel. The incumbent will also process direct transfers, review and approve AP vouchers, serve as an Attendance Coordinator for the branch, and support the General Ledger desk.

Working Conditions

DCSS is a diverse, family-friendly organization. The headquarters office is located in Rancho Cordova convenient to Highway 50, with free parking, close to restaurants and shopping. The facility consists of standard office workspace, within a 2-story building, and may require sitting for long periods of time while using a personal computer, reviewing documents, and attending meetings. The position requires occasional travel to off-site meeting locations, conferences, or training. The work environment is fast paced and requires the incumbent to be flexible, use good time management practices, and effectively identify priorities to complete assignments timely.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule and requires employees to work two days, each week, onsite at our headquarters office in Rancho Cordova, CA; however, changes to the hybrid/telework program are at the department's and/or Governor’s discretion. DCSS does utilize a shared workspace or “hoteling” when working in the office.

All employees may be required to report in person to the Rancho Cordova headquarters and/or offsite events or locations, as determined by management.


Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

  • Fingerprint/Criminal Record Clearance is required before hire.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience with FI$Cal, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Above average knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience developing written procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to be flexible in a complex environment with multiple priorities, and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to research, analyze data and source documents, and arrive at sound conclusions and appropriate actions
