Join ACE as a Housing Aid and play a vital role in supporting justice-impacted individuals by coordinating housing services, leading life skills workshops, and helping participants build stable futures. You'll support daily operations at the House of RUTH while guiding residents through career, financial, and housing plans that lead to long-term success.

The House of RUTH provides safe, structured transitional housing for adults impacted by the justice system. The program supports participants through daily residential supervision, life skills development, and individualized housing, career, and financial planning. By offering housing as a supportive service, along with guidance and accountability, the House of RUTH helps residents build stability, successfully transition into permanent housing, and reintegrate into the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct intake and eligibility determinations; make appropriate referrals for ineligible applicants; perform assessments, complete enrollment, and update participant service plans.
  • Implement and monitor housing, career, and financial plans with participants to support transition into permanent housing.
  • Support participants with appointment scheduling, benefits enrollment, identification replacement, transportation planning, and navigation of community resources.
  • Provide basic financial coaching to participants during the program and post-employment.
  • Support participants in securing employment and post-secondary education placement; track placements and provide solutions for retention.
  • Assist with participant discharge planning, transitions, and documentation, including aftercare referrals.
  • Organize, coordinate, and deliver skills-based workshops for participants, including work readiness, anger management, life skills, and positive decision-making tools.
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans for workshops and group sessions.
  • Coordinate monthly legal services partner workshops for the community.
  • Arrange and participate in family, service, and team meetings; coordinate wrap-around services with providers; transport participants as needed to meet program goals.
  • Coordinate and communicate with external stakeholders, including parole/probation officers, courts, treatment providers, employers, and community partners, as appropriate.
  • Monitor participants’ parole conditions, including housing, travel, and curfew restrictions.
  • Respond appropriately to participant crises, conflicts, or behavioral concerns using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques; document and report incidents per organizational policy.
  • Maintain required training for and supervise self-administration of medication according to protocols and procedures.
  • Support occupancy expectations for housing contracts; implement move-in/move-out process in coordination with the Re-Entry Program Manager.
  • Support day-to-day residential operations of the House, including: Group meeting facilitation, Bedroom checks, Weekend pass administration, Cooking, Grocery Shopping, etc.
  • Supervise residents’ activities, including recreation; ensure safety, attendance at activities, completion of chores, and personal hygiene.
  • Conduct routine facility walk-throughs to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with housing standards; report maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and distribution of program supplies, including hygiene items, food, linens, and household materials.
  • Process supportive service funding with participants, track purchases, and document receipts.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential participant records, including case notes, incident reports, attendance logs, and progress documentation, in accordance with program and funder requirements.
  • Enter data into participant databases and assist with periodic program reporting.
  • Perform outreach and marketing to recruit participants and inform the community about ACE services.
  • Maintain professional, ethical relationships with program staff, clients, and the public.
  • Support coverage for evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Familiar with standard approaches to accurate record-keeping, including timely charting, notation formats, and confidentiality practices.
  • Knowledge of programs, regulations, and procedures regarding human services, social services, justice, and re-entry housing services.
  • Knowledge of housing services approaches, resources, best practices, and tools.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours for on-call support, crisis response, evenings, and weekends when necessary and as scheduled.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to provide services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work/mental health or in a relevant field or 2 years of re-entry work experience; or.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Spanish language skills, verbal and written preferred.
  • Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance on a reliable vehicle available to use for work purposes.
  • Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check .
  • Initial TB employment clearance required.
  • Lived experience of incarceration, close impact, or institutionalization a plus.
  • Due to the nature of this role and its support of participants impacted by substance use disorders (SUD), this position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with organizational policies.

The anticipated pay for candidates who will work in California is $28.85 hourly. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
