Relativity Space
Long Beach, CA

Job Description

Job Description

At Relativity Space, we're building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that's just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven't been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you're in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you'll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we're writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it's early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

At Relativity Space, our Production Control Team plays a mission-critical role in enabling our vision of revolutionizing aerospace manufacturing. This team is responsible for planning and scheduling the entire product lifecycle—from initial components and engine builds to full-stage vehicle integration. What makes our team unique is the depth and extensiveness of our influence across the organization. We work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, and Leadership to ensure that every part, assembly, and milestone is aligned with the bigger picture. Our planners sit at the intersection of strategic execution and tactical problem solving, helping to translate complex technical goals into clear, achievable plans. We thrive in an environment where no two days are the same, and where adaptability, ownership, and curiosity are essential. Whether it's building capacity models from scratch, creating rate-based schedules for a new production line, or driving alignment across multiple hardware owners, this team is empowered to lead and deliver clarity where it's needed most. If you're energized by the idea of scheduling the future of spaceflight, being a core driver of operational readiness, and collaborating with some of the most innovative teams in the industry—then this is the team for you.

About the Role:

In this role, the experienced and strategic Master Production Planner will be responsible for ensuring the production team is on track to hit department level goals. This critical role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive Integrated Master Schedule that aligns with exit-rate-based targets and supports long-term growth. This role will receive inputs from work center level planners and will be responsible for determining bottlenecks that reduce rate capability, communicating them to partner teams, and working through potential solutions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in capacity analysis, production planning, and cross-functional coordination to drive operational alignment and execution.

  • Develop a rate base Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to ensure we are meeting the company targets on major assemblies (engine, stage) or high volume workcenters (Avionics, Sub-Assemblies).
  • Coordinate, maintain, communicate, and present the critical path schedules with mitigation opportunities.
  • Drive cross functional teams which will include planners, engineering, production, supply chain, and other key stakeholders to remove blockers that limit are ability to meet rate or hit schedule milestones.
  • Responsible for creating impact scenarios and sensitivity analysis to program schedule based upon high risk items.
  • Communicate project health to the executive team with recommendations on actions needed to achieve build targets.
  • Develop the department strategy for scaling production rates to meet our customer demands.
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes, tools, and schedule transparency.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent 5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or other complex hardware environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in capacity planning, MRP/ERP systems, and integrated scheduling techniques.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, scaling production environment with evolving processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to simplify and communicate complex schedule data to various stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration and effective problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Skilled with resource loaded schedules using Smartsheet, MS Project, or comparable scheduling software.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Previous experience in scaling production from development to high rate operations.
  • Experience with Integrated Master Schedule development in a low-rate, high-complexity manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with exit-rate-based planning, throughput modeling, and line balancing principles.
  • Background in aerospace or launch vehicle production a strong plus.
  • Experience with advanced functionality of scheduling software (e.g. Smartsheet automation, baseline/variance functionality, schedule slack calculations).

At Relativity Space, we are committed to transparency and fairness in our compensation practices. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Compensation is only one part of our total rewards package. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, a generous PTO and sick leave policy, parental leave, an annual learning and development stipend, and more! To see some of the benefits & perks we offer, please visit here.
