We are looking for a dedicated Senior Accountant to join our team in Fresno, California. As part of a mission-driven nonprofit organization, this role offers the opportunity to support financial operations while contributing to meaningful organizational goals. The ideal candidate will manage financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls to ensure the organization's fiscal health and integrity.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit standards.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and provide actionable insights to management.
• Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
• Post journal entries and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.
• Assist in the development of annual budgets, collaborating with department leaders to align financial planning with organizational priorities.
• Monitor budget performance against actuals, addressing variances and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, tax regulations, and other relevant requirements.
• Coordinate annual audits by preparing necessary documentation and working closely with external auditors.
• Manage cash flow, monitor liquidity, and oversee investment and reserve accounts to support operational needs.
• Train and mentor accounting staff who are newer to the field, fostering growth and ensuring task completion.• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger management and journal entries.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
• Experience in month-end close processes and financial statement preparation.
• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
