About the Role


You will join the Grok Chat Model team, focused on the foundational Grok models powering chat. We advance reasoning-first capabilities—from Grok 1.5 through Grok 3 and beyond—shifting from basic question-answering to versatile, reliable intelligence useful across engineering, law, medicine, and any knowledge domain. With massive compute and a mission-driven grind, we build models users can count on for truthful, high-utility outputs in an everything-app future.

Responsibilities



  • Innovate on frameworks for large-scale model experimentation to push reasoning and utility frontiers rapidly.

  • Collaborate with product and infra teams to integrate advanced models into seamless chat systems.

  • Develop and optimize scalable inference and training pipelines for production reliability at massive scale.

  • Build data infrastructure to leverage real-time signals and datasets for continuous model improvement.

  • Own end-to-end initiatives from research ideation to deployment, ensuring models deliver dependable, transformative value.

Required Qualifications



  • Proactive self-starter passionate about AI's potential to amplify humanity and understand the universe.

  • Expert in Python or Rust, with deep experience in scalable AI systems and large-scale data handling.

  • Proven in building experimentation frameworks or infrastructure for frontier language models at consumer scale.

  • Strong fundamentals, with track record shipping high-performance, reliable AI-powered features.

  • Thrives in a grind environment with smart, passionate teammates—ready to deliver excellence without overhead.

Interview Process


After submitting your application, the team reviews your CV and statement of exceptional work. If your application passes this stage, you will be invited to a 15 minute interview (“phone interview”) during which a member of our team will ask some basic questions. If you clear the initial phone interview, you will enter the main process, which consists of four technical interviews:


  1. Coding assessment in a language of your choice.

  2. Systems hands-on: Demonstrate practical skills in a live problem-solving session.

  3. Project deep-dive: Present your past exceptional work to a small audience.

  4. Meet and greet with the wider team. Our goal is to finish the main process within one week. All interviews will be conducted via Google Meet.

Annual Salary Range


$180,000 - $440,000 USD
