• Weekly Salary Range: $1680-$1730 per week

Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Rockford, IL 61114 (Illinois respiratory therapy jobs)
• Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Therapy Unit
• Assignment Type: Travel healthcare job
• Duration: 13 weeks (August 14, 2025 – November 13, 2025)
• Shift: Nights – Three 12-hour shifts per week (18:00 to 06:30), every other weekend required
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience (6 months in critical care preferred)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) accepted if not RRT eligible
• Current Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license
• Certifications: CPR, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NPS, and initial STABLE Certification
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and perform essential physical job functions

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Set up and administer routine and complex respiratory care procedures in Pediatric, Emergency/Trauma, Step-Down Critical Care, Adult Critical Care, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units
• Initiate, monitor, evaluate, and wean invasive and non-invasive ventilation; make clinical recommendations based on patient assessment
• Deliver critical and emergent care, airway stabilization, and management
• Perform patient assessments, medication delivery, oxygen administration, and documentation in electronic medical records
• Demonstrate competence in mechanical ventilators, noninvasive devices, bronchoscopies, and pulmonary function screens
• Participate in emergency response, resuscitation, and transport of critically ill patients (adult, pediatric, neonatal)
• Mentor new staff and students, act as charge therapist as needed, and engage in departmental projects and quality initiatives
• Maintain proficiency in specialized procedures, attend required trainings and meetings, and provide education to patients and families
