SPED Credentialed Teacher - Foundational Literacy & Math Support

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Indio, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Indio, CA
• Schedule: 25 hours a month; 4-5 sessions a week for 1.5 hours
• Rate is from $25-$35 per hour

Ideal Candidate:

• Valid teaching credential required
• Strong special education (SPED) experience working with students with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, and ADHD
• Experience teaching students performing at early elementary or kindergarten academic levels
• Skilled in foundational literacy instruction, including letter recognition, phonics, sound-symbol correspondence, and early decoding
• Experience supporting foundational math skills such as counting, number sense, sequencing, addition, and subtraction
• Knowledge of multisensory teaching methods, scaffolding, and gradual-release instruction
• Familiarity with behavior-support strategies, SEL integration, and attention-support techniques
• Patient, calm, highly structured, and engaging
• Comfortable implementing visual supports, manipulatives, movement-based learning, and repetition-based instruction
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with families and support teams

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy and early reading development
• Teach letter recognition, phonemic awareness, phonics, and early decoding skills using explicit and structured instruction
• Support writing development through tracing, modeling, copying, and guided practice
• Deliver hands-on math instruction focused on counting, number sense, sequencing, addition, and subtraction
• Use manipulatives, visuals, and scaffolded instruction to reinforce foundational concepts
• Incorporate multisensory learning activities to increase understanding and retention
• Integrate SEL strategies to support emotional regulation, confidence, and peer interaction skills
• Maintain structured routines with frequent breaks and clear expectations to support attention and engagement
• Implement positive reinforcement and behavior-support strategies throughout sessions
• Adapt instruction to align with the student’s IEP goals and learning profile
• Track progress and adjust teaching strategies based on student growth and responsiveness
• Create a patient, supportive, and motivating learning environment that encourages independence and participation
