Job Description and Duties
OFFICE TECHNICIAN (TYPING) (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES
The reporting location for this position is located at 3431 Fort Avenue, Eureka, CA 95503 . Under the general direction of the Administrative Officer, this position will work as a member of the Administrative Team. This position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the District Office. The incumbent serves as the primary point of contact for visitors and the public, providing assistance and exemplary customer service in person, by phone, and by email. Additional responsibilities include performing general typing and clerical tasks, preparing correspondence and documents, and providing administrative support to staff across the District. Duties also include mail room and equipment management, financial transactions, and travel. To succeed in this position, strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential. The incumbent must maintain a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute. Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.
- The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

1. Provide specific examples that demonstrate your attention to detail in administrative and/or cash handling work. In your response, describe the tasks you performed, how you ensured accuracy, and how you handled sensitive or confidential information.
2. Please describe specific examples that demonstrate your organization and planning skills. In your response, include how you manage calendars, schedules, or office workflows, as well as your experience maintaining organized records (physical and/or electronic). Also explain the tools, methods, or systems you use to plan, prioritize, and manage your workload effectively.
3. Describe your experience when you had multiple tasks to complete at once? How did you prioritize your work and meet your deadlines? Include examples of techniques or strategies you used to prioritize tasks, respond to time-sensitive requests, and ensure assignments were completed accurately and on time despite competing deadlines.
Failure to include and complete the SOQ may result in disqualification for interview.Proficiency in desktop computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Word and Excel, is required. May require occasional travel to fulfill job duties. Maintain a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute. Possession of a valid Class C Driver’s License.
