Controller
Position Overview
Pivotal Systems is seeking an experienced and dynamic Controller to lead and manage all aspects of the company’s financial operations. This position will be instrumental in ensuring financial integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. As a key member of the leadership team, the Controller will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls while contributing to strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare and present accurate, timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analyses.
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions to meet company goals.
Strategic Planning and Budgeting
- Develop, manage, and monitor the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
- Provide financial forecasts, variance analyses, and strategic recommendations to support business growth and profitability.
- Partner with senior leadership to align financial strategies with company objectives.
Internal Controls and Compliance
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and liaison with auditors.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and international financial regulations.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to streamline processes and improve reporting accuracy.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in accounting processes to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risks.
- Provide guidance and support for ERP system enhancements and integrations.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Develop training programs to build team expertise in financial reporting, compliance, and best practices.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal control frameworks.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (SAP and QB experience is highly desirable).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is required.
Experience
- Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing financial operations in a manufacturing, technology, or related industry.
- Experience with global financial operations, including multi-currency and international tax considerations, is a plus.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
