Hospital Controller
The Hospital Controller opportunity offers a unique chance to step into a trusted leadership role at a well-regarded healthcare organization in Central California. This Hospital Controller role is ideal for an experienced healthcare finance professional who enjoys being close to operations while still thinking strategically about the future.
The Hospital Controller will support a Community Medical Center that serves as a vital access point for care in a rural region of Central CA, with governance rooted in community stewardship and long-term stability. This organization is quietly recognized for patient safety and quality outcomes, holding a Grade A patient safety score and a CMS 4-star rating, distinctions that speak for themselves. As Hospital Controller, this role supports a hospital that is deeply respected, relied upon, and genuinely woven into the fabric of the town.
The Hospital Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and serves as a key financial partner across the organization. In this Hospital Controller position, oversight includes the Accounting team with responsibility for Accounts Payable and Payroll, while working closely with operational leaders, department managers, and external auditors. The Hospital Controller collaborates across finance, revenue cycle, and executive leadership to keep information accurate, timely, and useful.
The Hospital Controller leads a dedicated Accounting department focused on accuracy, integrity, and service. This Hospital Controller role works alongside experienced accounting professionals who manage general ledger activity, payroll operations, audits, and compliance in a setting that values teamwork and accountability. The environment is professional but approachable, with people who care about doing things the right way, even when it takes a little extra effort.
The Hospital Controller is responsible for overseeing monthly and annual close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, Medicare, Medicaid, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strong internal controls. On the administrative side, the Hospital Controller partners with the CFO on budgeting, audits, pro formas, and analytical reporting that supports business development and operational decisions. This Hospital Controller role also includes mentoring and developing staff, strengthening processes, and supporting leaders with clear financial insights that actually help them run their departments better.
The Hospital Controller will enjoy living and working in a rural Central California community that offers a slower pace without feeling isolated. This Hospital Controller position is within an easy drive to the ocean, local wineries, and scenic outdoor escapes, making weekends feel like mini getaways. Lower home prices and a strong sense of community make this area especially appealing for a Hospital Controller looking to put down roots while still enjoying quality of life.
The Hospital Controller role offers Competitive Compensation along with Generous Benefits, designed to support both professional and personal priorities. Beyond the package, the Hospital Controller will make a visible and meaningful impact on a hospital that patients trust and employees are proud of, and that kind of influence is hard to put a price on.
