Line Cook

Cafe Triste is a wine bar/restaurant in Chinatown, Los Angeles focused on natural wine and well sourced ingredients. We serve a full Cafe Menu nightly, with a mix of dishes that are seasonal, contemporary, and leaning towards Italy. Chef Sarah Fiore leads the kitchen, making pasta and everything else from scratch. We keep a small and focused menu, cooked in a kitchen with just a few induction burners and a small oven, but what comes out are serious, focused dishes with a lot of spirit. Real food.

Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Line Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, works well in a fast-paced environment, and has a strong understanding of kitchen/restaurant operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards
  • Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies
  • Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner during service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Assist with prep work and closing duties as needed
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a professional kitchen
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Food handler’s certification (preferred or required based on local regulations)
During service in addition to cooking, all staff participates in bussing and running, washing plates, and pouring wine. It's intimate where everybody has their hands in everything. This job is a set schedule with the opportunity to pick up extra shifts as needed. Very good tips.

An interest in learning about wine, going to the farmer’s market or experience cooking in restaurants where either was a focus is a plus. We want to find someone who can grow with us.
