IT Application Software Development Manager
- Leading development efforts for both on/offshore teams with a focus on features enhancements, implementations, and application efficiencies.
- Establish key processing controls and alerting - then collaborate with operations, development and engineering teams to make ongoing application efficiencies a reality.
- Promote the adoption of critical IT applications including the participation of technical roadmaps and features prioritization that add value.
- Manage 8-10 key IT platforms including ongoing orchestration of their health, efficiency, and service availability to development and business teams.
- Sponsor integration opportunities including federated development activities with multiple lines of business development teams.
- Manage the intake of all new development requests and prioritizes them in a roadmap in alignment with annual goals.
- Lead activities intended to troubleshoot, research, and resolve major defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in systems functions, outputs, and content.
- Create easy to understand software documentation for operations and business teams so everyone is on the same page about technical data flows and linkages.
- Establish key relationships across IT including a peer network of critical SME contacts whom the team can rely upon to escalate complex issues which may require development to resolve.
- Provide support guidance and direction for engineers including career planning and assigning challenging work which keeps everyone growing.
- Foster a department of excellence where engineers are self-starters and see the value they bring to the overall success of the bank.
- Hold up exemplary service to all stakeholder groups including clients and business partners.
- Recognize opportunities for improved process or procedures & act on them. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5-6 Years as an Application Owner, Application Manager, Software Engineering Lead, or Application Product Management in Financial Services or relevant industry
- 5-6 Years managing technical teams participating in waterfall or agile development cadence.
- Proven skills with software archaeology; the ability to troubleshoot, sometimes without detailed, updated documentation, and without constant guidance.
- Understanding of L1, L2, L3 roles in an IT organization and how those teams leverage workflow, requirements management, and collaboration tools such as Confluence, Azure DevOps, and Service Now.
- Must have the ability to be flexible when called upon to support application disruptions including a commitment to troubleshooting and triaging critical issues.
- Ability to manage expectations and timelines in a high-pressure environment including ability to connect and draw accurate conclusions quickly based on limited input.
- Basic understanding of Scripting commands, techniques, and its usages including technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Perl, etc.
- Ability to act independently with limited supervision within scope of responsibility.
- Ability to cross train and provide direction for other associates.
- Experience with relational database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, etc.) and the ability to assemble and run complex queries preferred.
- Hands-on experience managing large-scale SFTP platforms (e.g., Cleo Harmony) is a big plus.
- Experience with application and data flow workflow orchestration (e.g. BMC Control-M, ActiveBatch ) a big plus.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, and requirement to communicate to all levels of the organization.
- Exposure to managing applications running in Azure or AWS Public Cloud a big plus.
