We are looking for an experienced Sr. Corporate Counsel to join a growing financial technology organization in Irvine, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity offers a highly visible in-house role supporting business teams on complex commercial matters, strategic initiatives, and regulatory considerations. The ideal candidate combines strong contract negotiation skills with practical legal judgment and the ability to advise stakeholders across a fast-moving, regulated environment.
Responsibilities:• Lead the preparation, review, and negotiation of a wide variety of commercial contracts, including software, SaaS, licensing, vendor, services, confidentiality, and data-related agreements.
• Oversee agreements from initial request through final execution, helping ensure efficient handling of legal issues throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Collaborate with teams across product, technology, information security, sales, marketing, compliance, finance, operations, and leadership to deliver timely legal guidance.
• Counsel internal stakeholders on matters involving privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions, vendor relationships, and applicable financial services regulations.
• Support business growth by advising on new offerings, strategic alliances, reseller arrangements, enterprise customer deals, and data licensing opportunities.
• Assist with corporate governance activities such as board-related support, maintenance of corporate records, policy development, and oversight of subsidiary matters.
• Work with external counsel on specialized legal matters, including litigation, employment, intellectual property, and regulatory issues when needed.
• Track legal and regulatory developments affecting fintech, consumer-facing businesses, privacy, artificial intelligence, and technology operations, and translate them into practical recommendations.
• Improve legal operations by refining templates, playbooks, approval processes, clause standards, contract management practices, and legal technology tools, including AI-enabled solutions and contract lifecycle management systems.• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar; California bar admission is preferred.
• At least 7 years of legal experience with substantial exposure to commercial contracting and transaction support.
• Demonstrated success handling complex agreements independently from drafting and negotiation through completion.
• Experience advising cross-functional teams within a technology, fintech, financial services, or other regulated business setting.
• Working knowledge of privacy, data security, technology transactions, and risk-based legal counseling.
• Familiarity with contract management platforms and other legal technology tools used to support efficient legal operations.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical advice.
• Ability to work onsite in Irvine, California and perform effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
