Lead Grounds Maintenance Worker

Rightstone  is looking for a  Lead Grounds Maintenance Worke r in Victorville, CA. The pay rate is $18/hr. for a 1-month contract role with a consistent Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM schedule with a potential extension.

In this role, you will be the key person responsible for maintaining and improving the pristine, respectful environment of a premier local cemetery facility. You will hit the ground running to execute high-standard lawn care and seasonal grounds updates with minimal supervision. This is an ideal position for an experienced landscaping professional who takes pride in fast-paced, high-quality outdoor work and operates with a natural sense of urgency. 

Important:

This is a temporary/contract position with no benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, or paid time off during the contract period, but these may become available upon conversion to a permanent role.

What you will do:

• Operate commercial mowers to cut grass and maintain designated sections of the property.
• Masterfully handle weed whackers and hedge trimmers around headstones, structures, and walkways without direct supervision.
• Execute active lawn restoration tasks including precise seeding and sod replacement.
• Apply fertilizers to the grounds safely and effectively to promote healthy turf growth.
• Clean and maintain ground equipment daily to ensure tools remain in safe, peak operating conditions.
• Tackle all daily assignments with a high sense of urgency to keep the memorial grounds looking pristine.

What we are looking for:

• An experienced groundskeeper or commercial landscaper who can jump right into the workload without basic training.
• Valid Driver’s license - Required
• Absolute mastery and proven experience operating commercial lawn mowers and heavy-duty gas weed whackers.
• Strong knowledge of general lawn care, turf management, and basic fertilization techniques.
• Physical stamina and the active desire to work outdoors in the High Desert elements for a full 8-hour shift.
• A professional with reliable daily attendance and the capacity to meet strict visual standards for a memorial facility.
• A self-motivated team member who takes initiative and works quickly without needing constant oversight.
