What you'll do
The Busser position will be responsible for the following:
- Maintaining a clean and organized backwait station fully stocked with takeout containers and service items (napkins, utensils, towels, china). Communicating with management if any of these items is low or missing.
- Moving with urgency to pre-bus, bus, wipe and reset tables throughout the dining room. Bussers must move with care and be detail oriented at all times - cleanliness is a top priority for the restaurant. Plates should never be stacked on the table and glasses should never be “chandeliered”.
- Running food with accuracy and placing plates on tables with grace.
- Communicating with hosts, managers and expo constantly - bussers are the eyes and ears of the restaurant. Hosts need to know how far through their experience guests are, expo needs to know if there are any issues with food, managers need to know about any compromises to service.
- Providing a friendly and hospitable first impression to all guests. Warmly greet every guest that walks in the door and say goodbye to everyone that leaves. Acknowledging and learning names of regulars, our neighbors and friends of the restaurant.
- Respecting everyone in the building - maintaining cleanliness, acknowledging all employees, using respectful language, dressing appropriately and working with everyone else in the building to be helpful. Maintaining a positive attitude is important every day.
- Showing up ready to work. Attire should be clean and wrinkle-free.
- Respecting the facility - picking up trash, cleaning up after yourself, taking the initiative to clean, finishing your sidework, letting managers know if anything is in disrepair.
- Running food or drinks, assisting in pre-bussing tables, sweeping floors, helping teammates in the FOH or BOH, being present and aware in order to assist with any spills or special requests.
- Knowing your schedule and showing up to work on-time. Awareness and self-management with break times and clock out times is crucial to the success of each shift.
